a little flannel and sweater action

I decided to try the no fail method of adding a collared button-down under a sweater. I am really loving this trend and I can’t wait to keep working with it! I never really wear this flannel from J.Crew…I find it hard to not look too much like a boy with the dark navy and grey colors. Adding it under this Zara sweater and adding the necklace really gave it a different look!

I know I wear these boots pretty much every day, but who doesn’t have that trusty pair of shoes they can’t get enough of?! I do, and these are on sale right now! Snatch them up before they go!

I recently bought this jacket from Free People and I am obsessed with it! It has a cut,e little, dark floral pattern with faux leather trim. I really like this jacket because I can wear it with pretty much everything. I chose this NYC tee from Zara because of the dark grey color. I like wearing darker colors underneath it, but adding a fun pop can be exciting too! Don’t worry, you’ll be seeing this jacket in the future! I added a little plaid scarf as well. I also wore corduroy leggings which are super comfortable and add a nice texture to any outfit. Add these moto boots, and you have a look! Simple, yet chic.

P.S. My corduroy leggings and moto boots are on sale! See the links below to make them yours…trust me you want them!

What’s the best way to beat the cold? Easy…layers! Layers are essential for fall and winter, so it’s a good thing they are easy to do! I know you have seen this plaid shirt in a previous post, but I can’t get enough of it! I could style it so many different ways…

Anyways, I always start off with a basic. So a basic tee, graphic tee, long sleeve, plaid shirt, etc. Then I added a layer on the top. Usually a sweater, or a vest. Sometimes both! I like my layers to be long and I like them to contrast. I like how the cardigan is long in the front and the plaid shirt is long in the back. They pair so well together! I always add some jeans, or fun leggings.

I wore this outfit with a scarf and a necklace, but I didn’t picture the scarf so you could see the plaid shirt underneath. The hat was a fun addition to show off a little monogram…who doesn’t love a good monogram?! I also added some booties and a cute purse from my mom’s closet too…I shop in there allll the time.

How do you layer?

These jeans are called the “Constellation Wash” and I absolutely love them! They are from a brand called CAbi. My mom goes to a lot of their parties, which are hosted by women in their own homes. She picked these jeans out for me, and she did a very good job!

I searched through my closet trying to find the perfect top to wear, and it was difficult. I’m used to a darker wash denim and finding a top to wear with a light wash proved to be a challenge. I tried on a simple grey tee, but the color didn’t work. I then tried a black graphic tee but I didn’t like the black with the light denim. I then found this olive green tee and tried it on and I thought it was just right! I added my leopard flats and my leather vest and called it an outfit. I could go on and on all day about what I tried, but in the end I think I found the one.

Sometimes it takes a couple tries to find the right outfit. Trying on clothes and seeing what works and what doesn’t is one of my favorite things to do. Yes, it can definitely be frustrating, but in the end it is worth it.

Diamonds really are a girl’s best friend…so why not wear them on your shirt?! I love this Wildfox tee I bought last summer. The design is so cute and I love how it is a baseball type sleeve. I decided to brighten up the outfit even more with some light pink denim and a pink headband. This sweater jacket is so comfortable too and goes so well with everything! I bought it at a boutique in Chicago and forget how good it looks with so many things. I always end up finding great pieces in my closet that I forget about. Does anyone else have this problem??

Jewels are the best addition to any outfit. I love this jewel collared sweater I got from Nordstrom Rack. It gives such a fun and preppy vibe. I added this pretty headband and statement necklace to make it pop even more. The ruffles on the sock add to it as well.  I love how girly it is, so I added the studded boots for an edgy contrast. The bracelets are also a fun addition as well!

I like to start with basics, then accessorize my way to the top!

The Lord is in the house…

Halloween came and went, but these pictures will last forever. My boyfriend Bryce and I decided to dress up as Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick. I saw pictures of the couple in this outfit and decided it would be perfect. The costume was classy and cute and I didn’t have to buy a thing..I only had to borrow a shirt from my mom. Bryce had Lord Disick written on the tie, but the LORD part fell off. He also had Scott’s signature cane as well. For fans of the show, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Overall, we had a lot of fun dressing up. I am a fan of the Kardashians and I was actually Kim last year…but what can I say…it’s an easy costume and a perfect couples costume.

I hope you all had a great holiday!

Megan
